“We are made wise not by the recollection of our past, but by the responsibility for our future”.

I’ve always thought of myself as being similar to Peter Pan. My opinion of myself, or anyone else, is unaffected by age. Age may give us meaningless numbers, but the lessons and experiences it offers are priceless.

Upon reflection of everything I did before turning twenty, the following is the knowledge I would impart to myself:

    1. One day, you will be unique.

It may take you a while to figure out what will make you unique in your own eyes. Have trust that you too can be exceptional one day, just like those you respect, if you strive to be a nice person every day and you work on your trade, whatever that may be.

    You could develop into:

    – An astronomer

    -A dancer in the ballroom

    -A wandering, contemplative, and adventurer

That’s all you need to know for now: anything is possible!

    2. Your interests and convictions will completely change

Now that I’m older, my thoughts on religion, writing, family, and health all have different connotations. Someone chose to challenge every belief I held to observe what would happen. Whoever did this is a true genius.

My dad is passionate about writing, and although I used to think it was not very smart, I now agree with him and believe it to be the best instrument available for inspiring a new generation. The evidence is there.

    3. Having a drink

Alcohol causes your body to become cancerous. I’ll give you a hint: there are other methods to get the same high that alcohol does. It’s called life. Get high on life rather than drugs.

When you try to run away from your present situation, you end up drinking too much. Find out what’s holding you back and work on improving yourself every day instead of running away. This will make drinking the last thing on your mind and the first thing on your list of things to give up.

    4. Cool kids

It all comes down to who the cool kids are at twenty. Avoid them, act like them, dress like them, and exhibit similar douchery. In actuality, they are only hip for a limited period. It’s not hilarious to fight intoxicated individuals on the street when you’re thirty years old, have two children, and have a business or job to consider. Consider individuals in the long run and whether you will age alongside them.

If the response is negative, you should surround yourself with better individuals who can provide you with the full benefits of life.

    5. Impatience

You must have this one. Search every nook and cranny until you discover the one thing that sends shivers down your spine. That one item that awakens you at four in the morning with the wisdom and experience of an older person.

Your interest will only develop partially when you are young. When you’re thirty, your desire to start a music business might change from being a DJ when you were sixteen. There is a reason behind everything that occurs in life, and the links between the many events will never entirely become clear to you.

Ignore everything else, including what other people may think of your passion, and follow the feeling you get when you do what you love.

    6. Fondness

It’s simple to become engrossed in life’s events and lose sight of love. The thing that will make you feel amazing is love with someone else. It is incorrect to believe that living a single life or a life filled with many partners is the best option.

It’s one thing to love your partner; it’s another to love everyone in your vicinity. Real happiness, not the phony kind that your gym-mates pretend to display, is what you’ll get from doing both.

    7. Have no fear

Over time, you’ll realize that we’re all just scared, tiny people who have experienced more failures than accomplishments. Overcoming fear will help you grow, and you’ll feel like a superhero when you grow. The only thing holding you back is fear.

Your life will be challenging if you give in to your anxieties. You’ll have difficulty being joyful, so you’ll mistreat people. Make it your mission to disprove your anxieties, and commit to executing these difficult things as frequently as possible.

    8. Time versus Cash

You’ll hear that money is vital from TV, the Internet, films, and all the false entrepreneurs. It’s not. The one thing you cannot get back is time, so you must appreciate it. Ask for more time rather than more money when you have the opportunity. Seek to work four days instead of five rather than a compensation increase.

    9. Accept without thinking

You will constantly be faced with difficult questions. Say “yes” when someone asks if you can learn to kite surf. Say “yes” when invited to join a startup with an innovative idea. Say yes when someone asks you to talk about your passion in front of a large crowd, even though you are afraid.

    10. Say “yes” if it feels right.

What you imagine will never happen differently than it does in reality. The bravest choices you permit yourself to make yield the most significant outcomes.

    11. Illness

Illness is the only thing that may halt you in your tracks. No one is unbeatable, including Harry Potter. You will become ill if you put junk in your body. That is assured.

Reframe your thinking to realize that eating well gives you more energy to do what you enjoy.

    12. Possession

One day, you’ll understand that having property only brings you happiness for roughly 3.1 hours, after which you revert to your previous thinking. Choose an eco-friendly vehicle, but other than that, it doesn’t matter what you drive.

The newest phones go on sale, but their replacements are already being developed. Please don’t attempt to own the latest technology because you can never have it.

Although your clothing choices help to define who you are, you don’t need to buy new clothes for every event. Nobody cares about your appearance since they are too preoccupied with their problems and don’t want anything to go wrong. You should immediately remove someone from your friends list if they genuinely care. You’re being taught how to fail in life by them.

    13. Right of Ownership

Nothing is yours to claim. Everything you own requires labor, but that’s also where the beauty and fun are found. Your mind must develop, or it will become unhealthy and manifest as depression or anxiety. Nothing is owed to you other than what you harvest, which is sometimes unavoidable.

Your time should be spent on the value you bring to others.

    14. Begin, grow, lose everything, start over, and repeat

Indeed, you will experience both prosperous and depressing periods. This is our life’s narrative. Any movie you see will follow this same pattern: you start tiny, build, lose everything, and then start over. This is a reality that you must accept.

Become enthusiastic about the experience of continuously failing, growing, and failing again. I gained all the knowledge necessary to provide this counsel via this process initially. It’s time to discover this insight for yourself, young padawan.
